1944-1945 The Battle of Berlin,Germany surrenders.
On Apr 16, 1945, Soviet Union Army forces attacked towards Berlin from the east, it is the final assault on Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. After Soviet Union Army occupied Berlin city, Hitler committed suicide with his mistress Eva Braun in the bunker under the Reich Chancellery. Their bodies were burned in the Chancellery garden. At the end of the battle on May 2, 1945, over 300,000 Berliners and 80,000 Soviet Union Army soldiers died. This battle caused the fall of Germany. Germany had been almost totally destroyed. Approximately 12 million of Germany's citizens had been made refugees, and Germany's economy was in shambles after the war. On May 7, 1945, Germany surrendered to the Allies in Reims, France. This event represents the end of World War II in Europe. May 8, 1945 are also called “V.E day” (Victory in Europe Day).
