1989-1990 Fall of the Berlin Wall

From 1961 to 1989, the border between East and West Germany was still incredibly difficult and dangerous to cross.

In 1980s, opposition from East Germans was increasing and anti-Wall sentiment from the Western power was also growing. One of the typical examples was President of U.S Ronald Reagan once ordered Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down this Wall.”

On November 9, 1989, there is an announcement about travel led some people to believe the border was freely open. Guards around Berlin Wall started letting people through. Thousands of East Berliners entered West Berlin, celebrating their freedom and opportunity. This situation continued a few months until the demolishment of Berlin Wall.
